Rat Problem

Pics
Advice please?

My chicken run is invaded with rats. I shot one with my pellet gun ( and I'm almost 100% sure it died ) and trapped one with my old rat trap ( 100% dead, sorry no pics) There are a lot of rat holes and stuff where they are happily eating left over chicken food in my run EVERY NIGHT. The security like I have (which I originally put up to alert me when a raccoon came) comes on like....20 times per night! I'm looking for advice, not a fight on different traps that people use, etc. Your ideas are welcome, but please NO arguing!
Maybe get a jack russel terrier i herd there excellent at getting rid of rats in Great Britian, they use them to clean barns out of rats.

Just buy a Grandpa's feeder. They work like a charm. Don't waste your time and energy on cats, traps, voodoo spells or whatever. I have one and everyone I know to whom I've recommended one has reported back the same result - no more rats!

That is correct most cats wont touch rats, though there is some that will, but majority wont. I do say i have a kitten i got about 5 years ago it was part of a litter of "Barn Cat" and im sure it wouldnt think twice about killing one.

We use Victor brand battery powered traps. Quick and efficient.
They even have Wi-Fi enabled ones now.

On amazon, buys complained abbot the rodents chewing through the plastic end of the trap, instead of going through the electric zapping part. They took the safe way, chewed through, and didn't get zapped. But, Those are only reviews, I totally encourage you to buy this and see how it goes, just thought I would give you a heads up! :thumbsup

Agreed, I do agree they are possibly a bit over priced, but I have had no more rodents after using! Definitely solves that issue! The only issue I have had, was the I left it outside after refilling, and it rained super hard! Like, the hardest I have ever seen. There was a bit of water in the crevasses of the inside, but nothing major. Just keep it covered in major rain storms!

We've had three of the larger rat sized in use for years along with a half dozen smaller ones for mice and have not experienced that. With the one end wide open, why would they chew through the end. Wonder if the user got sloppy with the peanut butter and smeared it on the outide.

Ya, that is a good point, maybe the set it up wrong. It think it is a good buy, I was confused too, I was wondering why they would do that, can they sense the electricity? I think that electric trap is a great idea!
