has anyone had a rat kill an adult bantam rooster?


Also in the winter my cat caught and killed a rat while i was organizing feed. I took the rat and put it under my deck. After that i noticed massive reduction in rats.

Has anyone done that? The cat started to eat the rat so the head was gone.

My birds i keep now are mostly big like guinea and they just attack rats if they see them. I have a few trap set have not seen any in a long time since that.

Yes, rats kill chickens. But I would expect some evidence to such before jumping to conclusions.

Rats will eat their own dead as well.

Sounds like the guineas are doing a good job.

the summer i lost a OEGB bantam, something tried to drag him down a hole, he was really small though even for OEGB about pigeon sized. I thought mink or weasel but it wasnt. ALl i saw were rats. Thats a huge feat for a rat. Since then they have been killed but still , i never heard of a rat taking a healthy bird that big in the day.


The silvers pheasant male will attack rats also. If the guineas were not there i imagine i would have lost the rest of my banties. I dont have them anymore and just keeping large birds for now.
