Thanks everyone, those are just 2 of our hens. We have had Very good luck with our birds at the shows. I love the Silverlaced best. We started with a decent Cock & an average Hen. but they both complimented each other and they started a dynasty. We then took one of the daughters back to the father and the rest is history. They have produced some outstanding birds, mostly females. So we finally got some birds from the Best Of The Best in SLW's, which happen to be from a strong line that favors cocks. So they are being selectively bred to our Hen line birds. So far, the birds that we have going into the Fall show season have been some of our best so far. We are headed to Ny tomorrow to take two of our younger Cockerals to the show in Bath, so hopefully they will do well. The biggest problem I have seen in some of the birds at the shows is the rounded "bunny tail" look. Dottes show have a triangle shape to the tail when viewed from behind, and Cocks with hen feathering. The cock should have a white shoulder feathering, not completely laced like the hens do.
I would suggest you take your pullet to a show so that you can talk to other breeders & judges to get their critique of her good & bad points, this will tell you what to look for in a mate so that you can better your stock in the next gen. Good Luck!
