Rate my Rooster (Purebred Cream Legbar)

Good Points:
1) The breast is full, well rounded, and extends past the tip of the beak.
2) The early lobes are solid white with out any red showing through
3) The beak in short and well curved
4) The eyes are well placed
5) The skull is deep
6) The wings are close to the body and will tucked up
7) he has a visible crest
8) The main tail feathers are wide

Bad Points:
1) Some of the tips of the comb seem to be curling
2) There are horizontal lines on the comb
3) The back is really short
4) The thighs are short
5) He has white on his beast, wings, and sickles
6) His tail angle is too high
7) He doesn't show the hallmark cream (off-white) colored hackle feathers and saddle feathers.

So....More good than bad, but the high tail angle is approaching the point of disqualification from an exhibition, and the short back, excessive white in the plumage, and copper coloring in the saddle and hackle feathers would also count against him in an exhibition.

:goodpost:Well that’s better than I can do.

Beautiful roo. Thanks for sharing. For comparison, here is our boy who is a little darker with a bigger crest but is a bit small (among other faults). Shares the white feather but a lot do. Such great birds.
Here are the Idealized images that I created around 2013.

Here is are some that I bred around 2017. I had a better photo from this group showing the off-white hackles & Saddle feathers of the cockerels right next to the Columbian hens showing that the cream is NOT white, but this is the only photo I could find at the moment. These also have a lot of white in their wings but the breast color is the dark grey that the breed standard calls for and there is the distinct contrast from the cream top color (i.e. neck, back, saddle) and the dark gray bottom color (i.e. breast, legs, fluff). The creaminess is better on the one on the left but the dark grey best color is better on the one on the right. Both of them were sold. Neither made the keeper list.

This is Noodle my Purebred Cream Legbar Cockerel.

He is lovely, calm, allows me to pick him up as I please and looks after his ladies well. Although he can be a bit daft and face a corner of a wall for a while, or call over the hens to look at some chicken poop :gig

I was just wondering how well he adheres to the breed standard for cream legbars? As when looking at other purebred Cream Legbar cockerel photos online, he seems taller and overall different in appearance and proportions. Is he odd? I think he's very handsome, but I did hatch him myself and hand raise him from a chick (maternal bias :p)

As I was planning to hatch eggs from him and it would be good to know what traits I should be looking in for a Cream Legbar and whether he meets the SOP

Anyways, here are some photos, I would love your opinions, thank you :)

Just gorgeous!

Here is the one I was looking for with the white from the Columbian Rock Hens over the cream of the Legbar Cockerel. Some say the photos of the Cream Color Cockerels look like they are white, but they are Cream (off-white) indeed. :)
