I have a Standard Cochin, an Ameraucana, and a Wyandotte who all started laying last month and have all been averaging 6 eggs a week. This was somewhat unexpected as I had read that Cochins and Ameraucanas were not that prolific as egg layers.
But now those two are missing more days than usual and I was wondering if it's possible for chickens to get overenthusiastic for the first month or so, then settle down to a regular schedule?

Mine have all slowed down in just the past week, but I think it is because the 3 teen-age roos have been a little overdoing things. (they will be gone today) Hopefully the girls will get back to normal laying.
