Rats šŸ˜–

I’d try a slick aluminum can, like a tall boy or bigger energy ā€œpoisonā€ drink can.. Gatorade plastic bottles are textured or easily scratched.. and the ripples and ridges in them to boot.. they can easily get a toe holt and jump from that..
Good thinking! Why would it be enough for mice but not rats? Is it because they're faster and alot smarter? I’ve never dealt with rats ever I’ve read the horror stories and they live up to their reps little bastards:barnieMe and my FiancĆ© are at war with these dirt necks. One of the photos below is *GRAPHIC*but heres photo of what were dealing with. From what I read they’re roof rats. Is that correct? I uploaded first one with trap so u could see in comparison to rat trap. I think its fellow rat mates ate him. Greedy shits lol

Apparently there is a sound that you can play the deters the rats? Haven't tried it yet but seeing as we now have a mouse problem.....
Oh yea my neighbor has them set up facing our house. Haven’t had chance to talk to said neighbor yet but seems like they’re working just fine for him and chasing them over here🤣 un real. I feel he should of reached out to us and other neighbors to give us a heads up to take precautions but. Whats done is done.

I know Ive read majority of people had to end up resorting to poison eventually. Especially with infestations. We make sure we give a break or two without traps set but with bait on them as read then we will catch some after the break but not as many as I would like! I heard someone suggested using plaster of paris and peanut butter and making little bait balls with this and apparently they eat it and die. Have u ever tried this method?
Make some test balls of the plaster of paris and peanut butter and observe them for a few days. Do they stay soft or turn to concrete? If they turn to concrete, they are useless, the rats won't eat them or if they do, they won't be effective. I knew one family who placed little boxes around in the attic and other places with plaster of paris mixed with sugar. The rodents ate this and it killed them. It did not set up ahead of time because it was dry. It made the rodents thirsty, they said. But of course don't put it where the chickens can get it. I believe they used boxes that wooden matches came in, with the ends cut out. Oh. They also used sugar and baking soda mixed. Apparently rats and mice can't fart. At least, that's what they said. :idunno

All of this rarely works, it is always someone knew someone that used it, rarely first hand accounts. Sounds, spray, farting rats, plaster of paris, never seen any of it work.

Just stop feeding the rodents and they leave or starve to death. As long as you have adult birds it is that easy.

Check with your exterminator. Mine told me they now have poisons that do NOT affect any animal that eats the poisoned mouse or rat. Good luck!
So we realized we have a rat problem in and under(all coops are raised off ground but tunnels in dirt under them) coops! I haven't seen any inside small coop but bigger ones. By time we realized it was an infestation cause we never saw or had to deal with rat issues! My neighbor had an exterminator I saw leave his house twice in late Sept.. and boom here they are over here.. Which is around the time I started losing chickens so Im convinced it has to do with these dirt neck rats! Back on track sorry lol We have been setting traps and have been catching alot but its not quick enough for me and Im concerned because of how quickly these damn things multiply..I saw majority of peoole with infestation’s end up resorting to poison.. i’m just not a big fan because of dangers of wild life and neighborhood pets eating rats that are poisoned..so I saw someone on here with the clever idea of setting up traps and position in little pet carriers.. that eliminates anything bigger then rat from ingestion but what about mice or rats after ingesting this and they leave pet carriers? Im afraid of rats ingesting and then potentially wandering off and dying in run or coop where chickens can access the dead rats!! Any ideas or advice?! I need them gone asap! Im worried my silkies always liked to hang out under coops during hotter months for shade and now with this issue thats not happening! And they’re going to be able to free range again soon as were in upstate ny and soon all the foliage will grow back in which is when they are allowed to have full access to all 4.5 acres!
I got this and it worth every penny
