RATS! and, it's out of control!

We had a rat coming into our kitchen and we made peanut butter mixed with baking soda into little balls (wear gloves)and put them wherever we see rats and they are no more.

I looked up using baking soda as rat poison. Most sites gave pretty much the same information such as this one I came across.

I had no idea a rate would have any reaction to baking soda at all. I suppose if I ate baking soda at the proportions they recommend to kill a rat, I'd probably die too. You'd think they'd get too sick to continue eating the bait. I sure would.

I had some rat problems a while back. I couldn't seem to catch them. I finally caught 6 in a weeks time; most in a havahart cage trap. I caught one in a snap trap and a couple in my diving board trap. I then caught nothing for two months.

Just now I couldn't find my dog. I got a flashlight and went outside. She was trying to get into the chicken pen. I had a box trap in there that's been set for 2 months. It had a rat in it. I let her have the rat- the highlight of her week. I reset it and put it back. I found nuts glued down with Nutella work better than anything else. Cranberries work pretty good in the snap traps but you have to bait them up to it.

Keep and open mind on the use of the bait blocks. Ultimately, that is what will likely work best.
