rats and lots of them and I need to kill them!

I think the only choice you have at this point is poison, and lots of it. If you're not comfortable with that, we had some friends mix sack-crete and chicken feed and put that under the shed that had been infested. Pretty soon, there were dead rats all over, and the survivors moved on.

I made two of these, they work really well and are very inexpensive. I still hate to use poison and stopped after the rats appeared to be gone. But of course they were just hiding, so I bought two of these: Agri Zap RZU001 Rat Zapper Ultra. I couldn't put them out in the really cold weather (batteries don't last long in the cold) but I've got them out now, and almost every day I catch one and usually two rats. I believe they kill very quickly. (I know many don't care but it's not the rat's fault they are so adaptable.) At first I was catching what I would call smallish rats. I caught one huge rat. Now I'm catching young rats. I also used the Rat Zapper inside and got rid of an entire group of mice that had come in for the winter. I've never had any control system actually get rid of all the mice.

These rat zappers are expensive but since they work, for me, they were worth the money.

Thanks for the info and I will look them up. I am an animal lover of all kind and truly have empathy for every living creature. The disease/poultry/kids thing just bothers me. We have so many that they were partying in the daylight! one day! Big norway ones. So, I will look into these. Thanks!
