Rattlesnake, not one but two

Well, at least we're not the only idiots to spend that much $ on a dog. Poor little pups, I'm frankly surprised any survived. We have no anti venom here in Kern County for people, if you can believe that. We have the Mohave Green here which is extremely venomous - but no anti venom. Weird.

Wow those vet bills ow. I an guess i was blessed in away. My dog got bit on his hind leg upper thigh and when i took him in (next morning he hid under the house and pregnant woman could get to him plus he was in shock and his mildly feral so yeah) the total bill was maybe at most two hundred first time we took him in it was 160 i think, i had to get more pain pills for him that was twenty bucks if i remember that right. I know it wasnt more then 200 because i remember being in shock how cheap it was. They gave him a super benadrly, pain meds, and an antibiotic. That was it. From reading up on it if you can get your dog benadrly quickly it helps them.

Right? Four of the litter of 9 was to be donated for service dog training. The poor owners. They had 4 pups to sell to pay most of the bill.
No Anti-venom? My Pops is from Lucerne and has told me about the Mohave. They'll kill ya real quick!

Yes, they are extremely venomous. When our dog was bitten, it was right on the end of the nose & the snake gave him a full load. The ER vet said he might have made it with benedryl, but probably not. His head started swelling right away. He spent 2 1/2 days in doggie intensive care & he took to vials of anti venom.

I am not a fan of rattlers either. The good thing is they come with a built in alarm. The bad thing is that's what get's them killed. I've heard through the evolution of things, that rattlers are leaning not to rattle. (it gets them dead)

When I moved to the desert, I shot every one I saw. We then developed a pack rat and mouse problem. I lost two cars from chewed up wiring, and packed up engines.
I thought, well, they have a job to do, so I let them go about their ways as long as they stayed away from the house.

Then I read a prediction that anti venom (venin?) might start getting scarce, and that treatment and a helicopter ride might cost a mere $250,000.

I then decided that every single rattler sighted was in need of immediate dispatch.
We also have the Mohave green out here, which has a neurotoxic and hemotoxic combination venom. They say if you get bit by one, curl up in a ball, and say your prayers. No one can save you fast enough.

The wife carries a neat little .410, or her Tarus judge, while I'm happy with a .22 revolver loaded with bird shot.

Things are cooling down a bit out here, and I've whacked about 3 in as many weeks. It's too bad they they taste bad and smell so awful.

I can sell the rattles for about 5 bucks a piece to a local shop, so there's that.

Here's the wife's pest gun. It's about two and a half feet long, and weighs next to nothing.
It holds 3 or four extra rounds in the buttstock.

A six year old in California was bit by a mojave green it took 48 vials of anti venom to stablize him. Thats insane i glad that i have never seen one of those snakes and i dont believe we have them.
