rattlesnakes, coyotes, and pigs, oh my

I give you credit! Boy our New England weather is not the greatest that's for sure, but I don't think I could handle rattle snakes and pigs tearing up my garden. We would be having bacon for sure. Cancel that...If we had a population of rattle snakes, I would probably never leave the house, so I wouldn't have a garden! So again, I give you credit and am so happy your little chick is doing well!

the hubby did not get the pigs, we stayed up until 3 am and then crashed, so we will try again tomm. night. We think they are coming around 4:30 or 5ish. I'm hoping to get them, fresh sausage would be nice!

I don't like new england winters either. But i dislike rattlesnakes and wild pigs even more...!!lol

yea,,best case the hogs eat the snakes, you shoot the coyotes and feed em to the pigs and then you whack a hog and make some sausage. Feed the leftover sausage to the birds, they'll love it.

I would like to know about those wild pigs. Are they protected? Can you shoot and/or trap them? Have they ever attacked dogs or people? Do they taste like store bought pork? About how much does the average wild pig weigh?

In most states all you need to take them is a valid hunting license. In NYS they can be taken at any time and in any number--they are trying to eradicate them. They have been known to attack if trapped. Some people prefer them to store bought pork, others think it is too "gamey" You can order wild boar from Cabala's at Christmas time so somebody must like it. One was shot in 2010 over in Cortland County of NY that went over 475 lbs. Most have been in the 200 to 300 lb. range. That's still a lot of sausage.

Somebody killed one a yr or two ago sooo BIG they dubbed it "Hogzilla"...I forget where or how big , but they say that sucker was HUGE..!! Wild hogs are spreading around the country fast, and do attack people when cornered or hunted. They aren't anything to mess with unless you know what your doing.Plenty of wild hog hunters loose there best dogs to rampaging hogs while hunting them..They are extremely destructive to crops/gardens,etc... They are basically useless nasty pest. The more wild hog sausage people make the better..!!
