Rattly hatching egg?

Yes, it is pretty sad. I think what happened is that the eggs had originally been under a broody, but she left them when the other two hatched. I tried to put them in the incubator as quickly as possible, but I think it might have been too late.
How many eggs were there when she got up? She may have just left them because she knew they were dead. They can tell stuff like that.
Usually mama knows best.

Yes, definitely a dead egg. Looks like it quit only about two weeks in.

There were three, she had been sitting on 5 total.

Here are some pictures of so far my investigation (I keep having to step away because of the stench) here’s when I tried to make a safety hole. (Note: don’t do it in your bedroom! It stinks!)

I chipped away the shell, one egg stayed perfectly intact, while the other started leaking it’s juices.
