Rav's Duckumentary - Call duckling babies (pic heavy)

Ruby, that is a blue bibbed girl I hatched from same eggs I sent you... she could be a full or half sister to yours... :)

I am so glad you are enjoying your little Call... and that is the best pic I have seen in a long time!! Perfect neebos!!

Need to get that blown up, printed and framed for sure! :love

I like the blue bibbed, now that I have one!! ;) I've been looking at pics of them. I'm curious to see how much white he gets around his eyes because he has the yellow line around and then going back. And I'm also curious to see how light or dark the grey will be on most of his body. It's a very cool pattern.

Isn't that pic just great!?! Our lo just loves giving kisses. If any of us pucker up he runs right over and kisses. Do you think he will stay interactive with us once he grows up?

Holy sweetness!!!

What is the beautiful little light gray one in the front of the last pic??? :love

X2!

So, the reign of the 'lings continues... grey pied and blue fawn dared to invade the pool of 4 of Crash and Lady Greys babies...

Love it! How old are the sisters babies now? When do their feathers start coming in?

I don't think any one of my blue bibs looks the same, lol... light blue, dark blue, lots of white, small patch of white, and some have darker spots of blue throughout their body... so no telling what he'll look like til he feathers out...

He should start feeling prickly any day... as the feathers start I call it their hedgehog phase and they will look and feel like one, lol... make sure you're turning the heat down quicker than for chicks too... ducklings don't need it quite as warm or as long as chicks...

I'd have to look up to see how old the others are... can't remember off top of my head for sure...

He should stay very interactive, especially being a loner... might go through a bit of teenage angst, but that will pass... start taking him worm hunting... or use a specific cup for treats or name for treats... we say num-nums and ours will come running full speed, lol...

You mean this one?

It's getting out of hand! lol... wish I had my phone camera set for action shots when it happened... that tiny grey rode her out like a jet ski! :gig

Yes that one! Wow, I especially love the coloring in that one. Ok, snowys are now my fav.

Must resist. Must resist.

Oh, Juice seems to be sitting longer and longer each day, but still off the nest for a few hours each evening. Is that normal? I did notice she has dirt and straw and feathers piled up on and around the eggs now. She must have 10-12 in there.

I thought Snowys were already your fave? :gig

Perfectly normal... she might be going through a 'false broody', but that's also how Lady Grey and Crash started... LG would lay her egg in the morn and either sit or stand over it for longer and longer times in a kind of trance... then she'd pop out of it and act normal and not go back the rest of the day... Crash started sitting on it at night only, and get up in the morn and act normal... the times extended longer and longer til they stuck one day and fully committed... and they kept building up the nest til then... once they committed they didn't sit 24/7... some days they took turns for an hour or 2, or a few... and some days they would both go off for a while... Crash wouldn't stay off long though, she would panic and want back on the nest...

So that's your blue bibbed in the first pic? Beautiful! Love the babies!
Thank you! I must have been blessed with a good single duck. He does have his moments of crying but overall he's just a great pet! He does very well by himself and his brooder is glass so he can always see us. He's gotten very close to the kids! I got a very special picture today.
Wow!!! that is a SUPER Special picture! You have to submit it for the calendar or some contest that involves ducklings, ducks, waterfowl. Poor JB, this must be a tough time of year for her.

She was sitting this morning, then I checked later and she was up, but now she's back on the nest. So I guess I just keep letting her go!
