Raw meat and chickens

My cats and dogs are raw fed. Is there any reason not to give the chickens some raw meat sometimes? I normally feed food as whole as possible but often get ground beef or ground venison on my free Craigslist scores. My older dog sometimes gets that, but I could offer some to the chooks as well.

I know this is old thread but yes! It’s what they would hunt if left in the wild. I heard folks that let the chickens free range the chickens eat frogs and little reptiles or really anything that is meat. I also have feed my dogs and cats 25 years Raw without any illness or vet visits! There’s a lot of lies out there. You have to do thorough research on it. But when did humans start cooking and processing foods for animals??? It’s insane!

I agree. My coop cat gets chicken hearts and does NOT cross the boundary to go after my chickens. He respects them big time and if he doesn't then the girls remind him why he should. Lol. My dogs get chicken legs to clean their teeth and will lay down with them while protecting the flock. Chickens would eat eachother, if the opportunity were there. If anyone is carnivorous...it's the chickens, themselves. Lol.

Howdy I’m fairly new here. But not fairly new when it comes to Raw. I been feeding my pets raw over 25 years. Omas Pride ... With amazing results. As far as chickens ? They are animals .. they belong to Gods Earth. Therefore if they was let free they’d be eating lizards and mice and even baby snakes and so fourth. As human beings we cook for ourselves and even that is debatable with certain foods. Never has there been so much corruption and lies out there as the decades go by. You really gotta go back to basics and truth. And our pets are all suffering drastically because of the idea we need to process or cook for Animals weather domestic or wild. Chickens “ suppose to lay eggs their entire life just about. But because of processed grain feeds they stop laying eggs 2 years or so ... It’s pretty sad. Just like the fish industry , for example with they’re “ Farm Raised salmon and shrimp “ and God knows what other fishes! Is that natural? Who ever thought man start making cooking feeds for fish? we are gonna have a next generation or 2 of children growing up to believe lies. Resulting with far worst debilitating illnesses and diseases . Let Gods Kingdom Come! We need it!
On another note.. I also use Food grade Diatomaceous Earth in the chicken coops and even add it to my girls food. I wish you well.. and if need be reach out to a holistic Veterinarian. Even if it’s just to be informed. Knowledge is powerful! Be your own Advocate and your pets and Hens Advocate! Each one must carry their own load of responsibility towards Gods Animals .

Well...I can't very well cook the mice, snakes and frogs my girls ravenously devour. They are free to "be" out in their space. And they are healthy girls with beautiful, thick shelled eggs. They are "two tappers", as in you have to tap the eggs twice to open them. Lol.
Now I'm not going to say that they won't get sick from rotten meat. Dogs won't get sick, but chickens probably would. And that would be upon the caretaker to research that. But I don't feed my chickens rotten anything.

Hi , like I said I’m new at this thing , here on this forum and to any Forums really. so I actually meant to reply to the person asking about feeding raw meats to chickens. So hopefully I didn’t offend anyone. I meant the info to go directly to that person... hmm maybe I messed up? Anyways , I’m not implying to feed raw meats all day. As I can not see how much lizards or any live meat they are getting free ranging during the day. Tho I can tell you I don’t live in the country or farmland so I do supply my hens with Raw Organic meat at least 2 times a week. From same company Omas Pride that I feed my cats and dogs. They go nuts! They love it. Now.. can chickens eat a dead mouse if they come across it? Probably , I don’t know. But I have read they do. I think God knows what he created and therefore I try not to worry to much what they’re eating from the garden or land as it was put in them to know what is or isn’t good for them , “instinct” if you want to call it a word. Lol Just like I don’t worry when the Hens hatch out eggs and what to feed the chicks. Most of the mamas do great jobs! I don’t even need to feed the baby chicks! Mama shows them around the yard and garden. It’s amazing to watch! Now.. everyone is gonna raise they’re chickens and dogs and cats however they want. I just commented to help out the person asking the question. Since I have done years of research and still love researching. What I’ve learned is yes .. chickens can live on feed .. but for me I wanted more for my hens. I wanted them to live as closely as possible as to how God intended them to live. It’s just to bad they have to be totally cooped up. But thats a whole other story, if you will.

I was responding to the same person you were. No explanations needed here. Lol. And even if you were replying to me, differing opinions are not offensive. Well...not to me anyway.
I'm pretty sure chickens aren't able to eat rotten meat though. There are a few things they can get from the bacteria from rotten foods. One of those is mycotoxin, which can paralyze and kill them if not treated.
My girls kill and eat things they find. Quite a few things. Lol...so their raw meat is slways fresh. I also keep their area as clear of moldy anything as best as I can. I just threw out some pumpkin because they had their way with it and it was starting to get bright red spots.
I feed my dogs and cats raw food too. I use a local lady who has prepared (mostly) local meat, bone, organ, and supplements. Of course the kangaroo meat is not local. Lol. This lady has been doing this for nearly 20 years. I've been feeding raw for years now too.

Mine go crazy for beetles or worms or any insect “meat.” I collect beetles for them at the right time of year.

Cooked scrambled egg drives the chickies into a food frenzy as well.

I have also rarely given them raw tripas (umm... intestines). They tried to figure that out but a few days later, they preferred left-over ramen “worms” instead.

They will eat cooked meat but also cooked rice and the like in leftovers.
