Rcom Suro King Incubator official thread ***HIGH ALERT***see post 93

Ok so I put one of my hygrometers in a plastic bag with the salt and water...I followed the test to the letter...The humidity reading on the hygrometer was 55 when I finished the test...A whole 20 % low...I thought it was odd that it was that low so I put the hygrometer in my bator and let it sit in there for 2 hours...The reading matched the reading on the bator...So now which one is right?

The more I do the more confusing it gets...So now do I trust my bator or are both hygrometers wrong? (even though the are reading the same reading)...

I just wanted to make a comment on the cartons people are putting in the Suro. It seems like everyone who has this incubator is doing it because they don't like the little rails for the eggs, but I was thinking about that and I am not so sure I would do that. I think these RCOMs are very sophisticated little devices and I am not so sure I would mess with the space inside of it because I would think they are designed with very specific calculations for air flow and space and distribution of heat.

Maybe it makes no difference, but I think there is quite a bit of engineering that goes in to these little table top incubators and it might not be good to make changes to the design.

The reason I resorted to the carton is because the flexible rails won't hold the eggs and thEy flop around during the automatic turning. I get your point. I wonder if the designers haven't probably taken a lot of these variables into consideration when designing it.

That is so strange. I wonder if there are different dividers you can buy. You might ask Lyon Electric or Kemp's Coops. Kemp's Coops says they have tested the incubator so I wonder what they did.

Oh, one other thing, that fact that they included "rails" as opposed to solid dividers kind of suggests to me that they might have done that specifically for air flow and heat distribution. Just a thought. Once you set the eggs down in a solid container, the warm air is not going to flow in between and around the bottom half of the eggs.

The RCOM tray I have that came with the RCOM 20 has solid dividers, but I noticed that they don't go all the way down so they are touching the floor. There is a space underneath and I would guess that is so the warm air can circulate between the dividers and around the bottom of the eggs at all times.

Hi,

Just got my King Suro today at 630, and now its 11:44pst. I was wondering how everyone is putting in the Evaporating Pad (yellow).

It shows to cut 70 mm-75 mm for humidity over 60 percent, and 50-55mm for below 50 percent.

So are you cutting two pieces, and putting in the other piece later for hatch at over 60 percent,

or are you just cutting one piece and folding it?

Hopefully my question makes sense?

Just want to know if you are cutting one full piece or two pieces, and adding the other one at the end to increase it to 60 percent?

Humidity level in the RCom Suro

Hello,
I've rcom king suro 24 and I have find with factory configuration, 2°C minus different to my mercury thermometer!
I've set up this and I have find some problem to put orizzontally the eggs at the 19 days: with the Marans eggs the area to hatchings is too small and so difficult to put my 19 good eggs horizzontally. You put at the 19 days eggs orizzontally or live vertically? Some Chick are dead inside because there isn't some space to hatching!
