Rcom Suro King Incubator official thread ***HIGH ALERT***see post 93

well, temp is still holding steady this morning. I have two thermometers in there. One probe rests just above the eggs by a smidgeon and reads at 100.3. The other one the probe sits down between two eggs and is reading 99.3. So I'm going to just leave it and let it run it's course and see what happens. For the money I spent, I might as well keep popping sets of eggs into this thing till it dies!

I do hope you have a great hatch. Just remember that if the fan starts making a noise, send it back right away.

The owner of Kemp's Koops where I got my first one did say that they "only" problem they have had was with the fan going out. It irks me that if they KNOW there is a problem, they will continue to sell them with a shorter warranty. That's just not right!!

I plugged #1 in last night and the heating element warmed up, but the fan doesn't work at all. I blew the whole thing out with canned air but it still doesn't work. I went to Radio Shack today and bought a computer fan and I'm going to replace it myself. As soon as I know it is working, I'm going to sell it on Ebay. So for $17 for a computer fan I can fix it and Rcom wanted me to ship it to them which would cost about $20.00 in shipping, $50 in labor and whatever they would charge for the fan. Plus, they only use UPS ground and from California it takes over a week both ways.

I was able to replace the computer fan and the incubator is now working just fine again. It has been holding temp and humidity perfectly for the last few hours.

However, I'm still going to sell it since I'm going to get the Dickey. I am going to list it in "everything else for sale" for 3 days. I am leaving for the Shawnee, OK show on Thursday and would like to get it in the mail before I leave.

This incubator looks like new and is now performing like new.

though the new warranty information sounds suspicious, I can't rule out how neat this incubator seems to be working, even after taking a nasty tumble and having a toddler bounce it off a wooden cabinet a number of times! But I'm glad I don't trust one thermometer in anything! And definetly not the digital display of this incubator. As far as I'm concerned, it's almost meaningless! I just sure hope the humidity guage reads right. Will try to repost later in this thread to give an update on how my hatch goes.

I know this sounds bad but you have no idea how hard it is for me not to bid on that! Seriously-I had wanted one of those for so long and at that price-I could afford it and just pray I dont screw up any hatches since you replaced the fan-The dickey would take me months to save for-I have an electronics dept at my job that thrive on challenges like those....

Natalie,

I kept it running all night and it was holding the temp and humidity fine. The guy from Kemp's Koops said that they only issue they have found was that the fan would go out. It was an extremely simple fix and was easy as pie to replace. I understand from Bat Cave Silkies that hers is not getting hot enough. It could be that the fan is not blowing hard enough and therefore not distributing the heat. I thought that my heating element was out too...but a new fan solved the problem. I am going to be working on a new silkie project and will be hatching everything that is laid, so I need the larger cabinet incubator anyway.

Judy your killing me! I dont plan on hatching anything in house-until Spring unless my brahmas lay-then Game on! I trust you when you say its working fine now as Im not an expert on those machines and if something should go wrong I would hope our elctronic guys at work would fix it for me without breaking it! LOL You say though you programmed it for 100.3 right? I forgot -it was off a few degrees right?? I have a battery operated hygrometer I use for my hatches that would fit in there Im sure so I could use both to see if its telling the truth?? Im going to the BST section

My first hatch in my Suro went absolutely perfectly, but the three after that were pretty much a disaster. Temps all over the place, chicks not hatching until day 25 etc. I noticed though that during lockdown the temps were a lot more stable so for my current hatch i decided to not bother with the egg van turner or the racks. Eggs are on their sides and I am hand turning. I am on day 11 now and the temps have been rock solid.

I really don't know why the turner would cause the temps to be so erratic but hopefully this might help someone struggling with the same issues.

hey just wondering how they can say they only have a 6 month warranty when the paper that comes with it says 2 year warranty if registered on their site or a 1 year warranty if not registered? shouldn't that hold up somehow? i am wondering too about contacting the credit card company....although ours was purchased in march of this year so it has defintely been over this new 6 month warranty period thing we are hearing about. what can the credit card company do at this point? anything at all? i've never had to deal with something like this before. i have a call into kemps right now and missed their call so i have to call them back.

I wondered the same thing too, that it seemed as it rocked the temps would change some too. Very odd.

But anyhow, had my first hatch in this thing. I'm happy, but it's been a battle of turning the temp up and down and all around... Though through most of incubation it was very good and I didn't have to touch it. And nice to not have to mess with humidity.
