Pullets are pullets until one year of age, then they are hens......that comes from the show and breeding worlds and is the generally accepted term.
Same goes for cockerels not being called roosters or cocks until one year of age.
'Started pullets' are young birds old enough to determine gender...can be anywhere from 5-6 weeks to POL (Point Of Lay) around 4-6 months of age.
It's all semantics, call em whatever you want, but can help conversations to be clear to use generally accepted terms to avoid confusion and misunderstandings.
