Re-grouting a shower

Hi Kathy! You CAN do it!
I love playing with tile (notice I said playing, not working).

So after putting the new grout on, it should cure for 72 hours (no using the tub) then sealed. How often should you apply the sealant?

Where the tile meets the tub - are you supposed to grout that or caulk that? The previous owners of this house grouted it and I thought you were only supposed to caulk it.

Grout tile-to-tile. Caulk tile-to-tub. Don't get water on the grout while it cures, but when it's time to caulk tile-to-tub be sure to fill the tub with water, or the first time you fill it, the weight will pull apart the seal.

Is this a shower stall with no tub? You will still probably need to caulk where the floor meets the walls. That joint flexes, and can leak. Caulk, especially any siliconized caulk is meant to flex. Grout is not flexible.

You can do it yourself it is really not that hard just time consuming. The hardest part of tile is the grout. Wipe and wait, wipe and wait, wipe and wait.

No need to wipe it more than 2 times, When is hazes and some what dries polish the tile with cheese cloth, it works like a charm. A good old fasion utility knife works great for removing the grout. Grout in a tube is used to seal around the base of the tile where the tub or shower meet the tile. You would be there for days if you tried to grout the whole shower with the tube stuff, It is pretty nasty stuff. When wiping with a sponge never wipe the same way the grout joint is running always catycorner Hope this helps
