There is this lady on the duck rescue network who I contacted about free baby geese. I raised up a pair of them last year and loved doing it. I would love to get these four that she has, raise them up, and then rehome them to GOOD homes once they get too big (I may keep one or two but cannot keep all four). I told her that they may be rehomed to 4-Hers for show or pets and she never made any objections. I know some people get weird about others rehoming their pets, but she is not an adoption agency, just a person looking for a home for her geese.

I just need some reassurence that this will be ok to do. I will be keeping them for most of the summer and then deciding which ones I want to keep. IDK why I'm feeling so weird about this. She never said anything AGAINST re-homing them! Guess I just need others to agree with me!

Once they are yours, they are yours. If she is looking for forever homes for them then you would getting the geese under false pretenses.

I think what you are doing is awesome.

Thanks guys!

That's how I feel about the whole thing. I mean it's not like I would just be taking them and the turning right around to sell them for profit. If and when I decide to rehome them, I will only be asking for a little money to cover the feed costs of rasing them. Chances are I will have them for four months until fair and I intend to place them strictly in pet home only.

I've had some weird experiences with adoptions, but I guess this really isn't an adoption. She's just looking for a home for her geese!

Thanks!

The way I see it, you already told her they may be re-homed, so there's no issue at all.

If she changes her mind, that wouldn't be pleasant, but you aren't doing anything wrong. And you will find good homes for them. I think choosing the pair you like best to keep is a good idea, and means that both you, and whoever gets the others, will get just what they want, which is a recipe for permanent homing.

Enjoy raising the new babies!
