Carolyn, it looks like you either figured it out, or someone loaded it for you.

If you don't mind I cropped the picture so that when it is resized your beautiful ducks show bigger.

I suggest people try the following with their avatars:

1) Crop them so the background is minimized, but the "subject" is maximized (For example, the Ducks in Carolyn's avatar)
2) Try to go for a square 100 x 100 pixel image
3) Save the resized image as a jpg and also as a gif then upload whichever is the smallest (when I resized Carolyn's ducks a gif was 1/3 as big as a jpg... but sometimes it is the other way around). Make sure the picture is smaller thatn 15 kb.

Ok, I am having troubles with this too. I have my photo resized through photobucket, it is 100x75, but when I try to upload it is to big.
