I will be building a coop in a few weeks and wondered do the chickens all roost of the same board ? or do I need to have a board for each chicken ? I will only have 4 birds. Thanks. I'm just learning all this chicken stuff....

As long as a single roost is large enough one is fine. I have a few roosts in my coop they seem to only use two of them. Couple of hens prefer to sleep in a nesting box, and they seem to get into a pattern, same hens same roost most nights.

I have 2 hens. I think it's good to allow at least 12" per bird for roosting space.



tip: place closest roost not closer than 18" from the wall & you won't have to clean the wall.

i'm finding the only thing the girls require is the roost be the same height for everyone - or else.
