I used the "upload" feature on BYC to post pics of the breeds needed for identification last night. I have one more pic to add, and now since I have figured out the process would like to add other pics from time to time.

But, site is telling me I have reached my limit? How does this work?

OH wow I didn't know there was a limit. I've uploaded a lot of pics so far and never got a message

How many did you download would you guess?

i have 6 uploaded and no where near my limit. maybe they are very large and taking up alot of room, try resizing them.

Hi All,

The limit on uploads here at BYC is actually relatively LOW. The tool was created to give new members the ability to quickly upload a few pictures to get them started. As people get to the point where they want to upload a bunch of pictures then they should use a company like photobucket (or one of the other thousand image hosting companies) to store their images.

In the future we may increase the limit, but the amount will still be low relative to these other companies that have funding. (Anybody know Bill Gates or Larry / Sergey at Google? Maybe they want to get chickens and make a contribution?)

If I had known, I would not have used the BYC site. I am new to this and the Photobucket is quite complicated. Can you recommend another site that is easier than photobucket?
Thank you for the explanation.
Anne

I know if you use the resize function, it will give you more space for more pics. I think certain types of picture files are less roomy than others. .Bmp files are very large, and I think .tif and .jpg files are smaller. I always resize mine.

I am with you about photobucket. I prefer flickr, but the TOS there requires a link back to the flickr photo page, which is fine, but it just one more thing to remember.

Thank you. I am just frustrated. I probably did something wrong with the resizing and they were too big. Guess I will have to learn something new....

If the pictures are ones that will be used for coop designs or other BYC projects then we can host the images on our site. This requires a bit more work on our end so we prefer that people use other sources to host the images until the project is complete and then we can move the pictures over to our side.

For other image hosting options do a google search for: free image hosting
