The constitution doesn't explicitly allow this, however a 1941 Supreme Court ruling (see below) declared Congress indeed had the power to regulate child labor.

It is interesting how the courts get to decide something is in the constitution when it really isn't! And by interesting I mean grotesque and 1984-ish.

Yeah, I'm familiar with several similar rulings. As I recall, the Supreme Court has basically ruled that the Feds can do whatever the heck they want by virtue of a twisted understanding of the "general welfare" and "interstate commerce" clauses, never mind that both were actually limiting.

One thing that rambling imbeciles can see is the potential to use a law for its' unintended purposes and enrich lawyers defending oneself when said law in misapplied.

Whose general welfare? NOT MINE! That much I can assure you...

The government is out of control. Although, I still stand by my previous assertion that regulating child labor is a good thing. I think that with as many ultra poor families that are out there, completely unregulated child labor would be a recipe for a lot of wasted lives. Now if the system hadn't been rigged to the advantage of the ultra rich around the time of the great depression (and even more so from the 70s to present) then I think a lot less regulation would be necessary, as families and individuals could make a choice regarding who they worked for and not be essentially forced (by poorness) into whatever work they could get.

Viva la revolution.

This is unlikely as it does not prohibit children from working for their own families farm, but does prohibit them from working for a large factory farm...

We already have good working child labor laws, this is another attempt by the Obama administration to derail industry in the guise of something good but in reality a subtle attempt to garner a whole class of people and funnel them into a social program killing the traditional methods of creating hard working young adults into welfare dependants. It is also an attack on the job creators of this country making it more inhospitable for investors to remain in America and create jobs. I am not sure if it is intentional or not but it is working, investors are leaving the country because the business climate is under attack by new regulations like this one and the threat of higher taxes and Obama's desire for higher energy costs.

You run the job creators out you run the jobs out as well.
