Still being a newbie. Why is it necessary to feed something different before butchering? If they are doing good on feed, why change it.SOmeone please explain.:| Thank you.

This is my opinion, but it is your personal choice how to finish off the meat birds.

Some folks like to add some extra corn to the diet to fatten the flock up before harvest. If you never raised meat birds before, or want to keep them lean....then do what you want which would be nothing at all, and change something the next time around until you harvest the exact table bird you want.

Raising your own will taste different than the store bought you are use to, but much healthier and a new taste you will become use to.
