Ready for chickens

Aji Dulce = Shavings & paper towels on top of shaving for the first week. I use a plastic bin, don't use anything under the shavings but then my chicks are in the plastic bin for the initial week then go to the outside brooder in the patio ... I use t MHP (heating pad) for warmth and they do well. Check out the thread MHP by Blooie in Raising Chicks.

I have the same type of coop. It's a "stick built" 8 x 10 foot shed with a wood floor covered in a sheet of linoleum on top. It works well because poop and water do not permeate the floor. I bought a plastic snow shovel ($5) for removing the dirty wood chips and it's great! I can shovel out the coop in 15 minutes now. So just throw your bedding material on the floor. It should cover the floor, like 3 inches or so, as you don't want poop to hit the actual floor and stick. Good luck with your chickens!
Exactly! If you use a single sheet.
I used vinyl(which is often confused with linoleum).
I find the poops don't stick much to the vinyl.
Tho shavings on top of vinyl can be very slippery(for the birds) especially at first.

@Chickenchip there are many ways to manage bedding and manure, you'll figure it out.
