Ready Set Hatch! Set 3/17 Hatch 4/7 - ready now! Hatch-Along

I now have an incubator full of stones. It looks so sad with all those pretty eggs gone. :( I cracked all the ones I pulled out to confirm what I was seeing. I was right on all of them, so at least I am starting to know what I am looking at! I kept the two that I am pretty sure are quitters.. I will know for sure when we get home if they haven't gotten any bigger.

Out of 42 7 were bad, 5 or 6 were questionable...
But I will wait to toss them until I'm sure....
So should be a decent hatch, maybe 30 will come through. I also have quail hatching at the same time, wondering if anyone has done this? They will hatch in the same bator, but I may put in a partition for cautions sake....

I recandled again tonight.. Out of 12 I discarded 1 that was either infertile or an early quitter. So Baby Girl is still sitting on 11 that look real good. I can't believe she is covering that many eggs!!! Good thing it's getting very warm here in Louisiana... Lol ... She may cover 11 eggs but I dont think she can cover 11 new chicks!!!

Oh and I forgot in my update that I had 3 game hens go broody today, Pumpkins sitting on 8 or 10, an un-named hen is sitting on 7 and Vixie is sitting on 7.

I have just recently bought Vixie and she hasn't laid an egg at all since we've had her but she always wanted to sit in the bucket on nothing. So I decided today I would move her from the pen with Weezy her man and put her by herself and put a clutch that a hen wasn't sitting on yet with her. And what do you know she sits on them as I start to put them in there! Impaitent little booger.

I'll do an offical count tomorrow when I feed up. :)

I wish I had somebody who wanted to go broody! I have never had a broody!

I candled again tonight I pulled 5, out of the 5 one had started to develop but quit the other 4 never started. I left three questionables in there and have 27 that are good. I was able to see two moving yes it was exciting. I wish the kids had been here to see it. I shared with dh but he wasn't nearly excited enough.

Wow - all kinds of news to catch up on from last night. I'm anxious to look into my eggs again this weekend. I'm so afraid that one particular egg may quit on me, being a very small pullet egg and all. I want to candle frequently but im not going to so it'll have the best chance.

Here's hoping Pam...C'Mon number 10, YOU CAN DO IT!

LOL, yes - it needs all the well wishes it can get. I dreamt last night that I was at my father-in-law's house and found one of her eggs in his fridge... I'm so regretting the day we loaded the incubator. I decided between two of Baby's eggs or two ee's and I chose the extra ee since Baby's were so little and thought we could hatch more of hers next time when her eggs were larger. :( Hindsight.
I went to the feed store yesterday and they had so many little chicks peeping in there - makes me so curious to see and hear our brooder box full again!
