Ready Set Hatch! Set 3/17 Hatch 4/7 - ready now! Hatch-Along

Melodie, you think they are gonna be okay? I'm panicking again... If just one would pip, I could relax a little bit

Do you know how long the temp was up? The eggs stay stable a lot longer than the air, at least that is what I have heard. Maybe the inside of the egg didn't get as hot as you think.

Make adjustments and slowly bring it back down.

The Hovabator manual says that in the later part of incubation the eggs begin to generate their own heat, it depends on the thermostat and how sensitive is you see it or not.

My Hovabator was noticeable, but the digital DIY 'bator adjusted itself, so I never saw the rise.

In other 'breaking' news, my #7, A BV has pipped mid morning, and there is chirping once again coming from our incubator!

My thermometer is sitting on the eggs... so it might be picking up their body heat too...I don't think any are gonna hatch. None a are wiggling or anything

Yeah, my DIY doesn't show the increase in egg temp...unless you wrap the sensor probe half around each egg...oh yeah I'm not doing that anymore ;) haha - mine were putting off major heat starting about day 13-14. The incubator adjusted for it automatically which is what freaked me out when the air temp was too cool but the eggs were hot.
Dylon - they may not wiggle, don't worry. And what I learned last week - if the thermometer is touching the eggs then it's definitely picking up their heat. That's a good thing - it means they're alive :D

Sorry but what day are you on Dylon? I have lost track when you were due.

If it is far along then there are some tests you could try, if it's still early then we just have to wait a bit longer. If the temps going up without outside influence then something inside is doing it, and something would have to be alive to do that.

Can you give a brief run down as to where you are at;

Day -
Eggs you started with -
Eggs in lock down -
Incubator using -
Current temp status -
Current Humidity status -
Recent average temps -
Recent average humidity -

From that info we all might be able to chip in some info.

Im on day 19.

I started with 23 eggs. Two or 3 never developed. I dropped one while candling (poor thing twitched a little on the floor)

So I have like 19 in lock down

Little Giant still air.

My temps have stayed at around 99.5, other than my spike earlier today.

My humidity has been about 75.

CURRENT TEMP IS 101 AND THE HUMIDITY IS 72

Hooray for pips and peeping you guys! I would definitely get your temp down as quickly and gradually as possible. Good luck!

The brooder is setup, I fixed my thermometer and it's still only reading 98.6 so I'm going to leave it. If Snowy is still panting tonight I'll take it out :)

Ok, so you are at the point where you might start to see some wiggles. It's hard to be still long enough, I use a little torch to scan over the eggs and watch for movement.

At that temp, you would expect a Day 21 hatch. Working back from that on the following timeline;
Day 21 chirps, zips and hatch!
Day 20 pip's and chirps
Day 19-20, wiggles and early pips.

I have found that's the order things happen, it is possible to all slide forward a day, or slide back a day depending on temps, egg size and what the parents were eating before laying.

Your hatch being on Day 19 is still early, no need to sweat yet. You have great conditions. Things will start to happen soon.
First PB Basque is out ^_^
Awesome!
