Ready Set Hatch! Set 3/17 Hatch 4/7 - ready now! Hatch-Along

Thanks! The water wiggler is used to monitor the internal "egg" temp. It doesn't show in my pic but a digital thermometer probe is inside the tube. The inner egg temp is more important than the actual air variation so as long as my wiggler says it's 99.5 I don't change anything. I do also have a thermometer in my known cooler and warmer spots so that those are within acceptable range.

Morning all!

Was just catching up on the nights posts.

Pam, I saw a video on youtube about a gent who had a ceramic egg go missing, he thought a snake had ate it. When a hen re-appeared with 23 chicks from the surrounding bush land it had 23 chicks with it. The owner went looking for her nest and found his ceramic egg in it.

She had moved / laid 23 eggs in a hidden nest, and transported a ceramic egg from her nest box to sit on. Could have been a perfect hatch rate is the last egg was real!

I didn't think I could find it that easy again, but here it is!

You put the thermometer probe in it and it gives  you an approximate internal egg temp :)

Kinda what I fig but had to ask! I didn't think u could buy those things anymore though lol
Well I don't have one I sure hope my eggs understand :)

That is hilarious! I bet that hen was determined she'd get it to hatch though. Speaking of ceramic eggs, Zha-zha - one of my buff orpingtons, laid a huge egg today that looked like a badly shaped ceramic egg. All seamed looking and oddly deformed with a matte finish. Nothing like her usual big round eggs. Figures - I was awaiting two more eggs to fill a 7 dozen order to drop off today. Couldn't really include that one.

Ben - my phone only would play the video up until he thought a snake took the egg :( will have to view it again on the computer while I'm at work Friday. My co-workers already think I'm chicken crazy. I think they knew it the day I had a chicken delivered to me at work :D

Well it's 5am here in Arkansas and I am up with a sick lil one

Annnd thought I would pop in and say howdy !! I am sure most everyone is sleeping but ...... Good morning!!!

Morning Klan!

6pm here, on the bright side, it's nearly Friday. That's only two sleeps until Day 7 (Sunday night) to candle. I was going to do it day 5, but since we only just loaded the Araucana in we are going to hold off until Day 7, want to give them the best chance for success.

Glad I am not the only chicken crazy one out there. My FB friends call me the chicken whisperer! If only I was that good at it.
