Ready Set Hatch! Set 3/17 Hatch 4/7 - ready now! Hatch-Along

Welcome to the newbies, love the free chicken strips add, that one really got me going.

Up there with the 4ft man eating chicken in the Little Rascals movie.

Humidity was a bit lower this morning, 47%, added a warm damp sponge and it has come back up to 54%

Wonder if the new egg's soaked that up or if the water tray (has slightly tapered sides) is a bit lower. Will use sponges until Day 7 then I will be able to have a look while we candle and make sure the levels are right for another week.

Glad you will be joining us!!!
What type of bator r u using?

It is just a LG still air. I was planning to have someone else hatch for me but they had an emergency at the last minute and backed out. I had to run out and get the only thing I could find in our town. Thank goodness there was at least something available because my spoiled girls have never considered going broody!

Im using the LG still air too. I kinda bought it on a whim and I just borrowed a few eggs and used some of mine.

Finally have a girl that's gone broody, on only 2 or 3 eggs. :/ but atleast she's gone broody. She's just started to lay too. I figured she wouldn't lay due to a pelvic injury she obtained as a chick. I think she was stepped on. :(

Got some pips on my last march babies! :)

Wow you keep your humidity high! I'm doing dry hatch, between 25-40% :)

Well I candled tonight...but it was because the people I'm incubating for wanted an update. I'd say out of 52 eggs, around 44 are developing for sure and a few I just couldn't tell. One of them had a gnarly crack so I had to remove it, so now I'm down to 51 eggs as of Day 5 :)

So tempting, but I am going to hang in there and hold out until Sunday night.

I had really good success with following the instructions that came with our first incubator. 50-55%, then up to 70-80% for hatch. Had good air cells the whole time, and of the 7 that went into lock down 6 are running around chirping. The one that did die, looked like it died before lock down, but being new to reading eggs we left it in.

Worked for us, so we are sticking with it for now.

Any of them out of the shell this morning?

Hokankai - great results so far! Can't wait to check mine.
I plan on not adding water as long as it stays above 25% and as long as the air cells look the right size when I candle. That method seems to work well for a lot of people here but I think climate, season, and altitude make a huge difference.
