when should I candle again after lockdown?

Do it before you lock down, then, you close the lids and leave it closed until the last part of the hatch. Yo really don't want to be leaking humidity by opening the lid again. Make sure there is plenty of water to last the three days of lock down. Only open it is something goes wrong in the last part of the hatch. Even dried fluffy chicks can live for 48 hours comfortably (some say 72!) before needing to be fed and watered.

Letting that humidity out to candle can cause issues, especially if the shell is breached by a pip or zip. (There are circumstances where this is void, but generally lock down means sit on your hands and stay out lol)

Depends on your heat range, I pulled the last one with no pip at Day 23 last time, but if you have a few and temps have been a bit low, leave them until day 24-25 Some come late. I would rather wait an extra day or so. (I know it's not you in this situation, just quoted the topic)

Camera at the ready, also have a sore back from looking into the window. Saw 5 of the 7 in lock down wiggle last night. So comforting to see them move! Now, to see our first pip! To add to it, my hatch day is also my 33rd birthday! Cooked breakfast AND a hatch

I know its soon to be talking about this, (or is it!?!?) But I was wondering if you all think I could get away with putting this batch of chicks in with some bantam chicks I bought at TSC. There is only like a two week age difference at most.

OOPS! Thanks Ben your younger brain said it more clearly! Almost happy birthday to both of us. - I should have added that one egg had hatched and dried completely on day 20. The only remaining egg had not pipped or moved, no sounds at all on day 22 (so yes -48 hrs!). Forgot that important tidbit Opening the lid releases too much humidity to risk. It's hard to not take the little fluffballs out though!
