ready to go outside? ?

Two-week olds can be permitted outdoors on nice days in the 60s or 70s. I let my two-week olds spend time in the run in a grow-out pen near their pet carrier so they can duck back inside when they feel chilled. They love the freedom and the adult flock begins to get introduced to their new sisters.

At age six-weeks, they're old enough to move into their own coop or merge into a coop with adults if they have already been learning how to deal with the pecking order. Mine do this beginning at four-weeks by having a "panic room" with small pop holes they can retreat to for safety. Small chicks get along very well in an adult flock as long as you provide them with enough opportunities to find safe places from adult pestering and have their food and water where the adults can't interfere.
