Ready to jump into meat chickens! Where did you buy your chicks?

We got ours from Hoover's Hatchery. I think the best way to buy is to look to see which hatchery is closest to you. I see no point in getting chicks from halfway across the country when you can get some nearby.

I get all of mine from hoovers and they are great. And as I have said before I have raised around 600 the last two years (with 300 more on the way in a couple weeks) and have gotten them all from hoovers. They have been great for me and higher prices are great. I order all cockerels and this year they were at 1.19 each. We seldom see a broken leg or heart attack.

We got ours from Welp this year. I've never seen healthier birds. Seriously amazing. We bought from Hoover's last year and lost a few to coccidosis but otherwise they were great too.

Neighbor wanted to get a few laying hens so I went with cackle hatchery? Hubby talked me out of 100 so I ordered 50 :). Hopefully this will be a painless process for all involved!

My 26 broillers are supposed to arrive tomorrow morn(from meyers)

WISH ME LUCK

when are yours going to arrive?

Mine are supposed to be shipped tomorrow (from Ideal) to arrive Thursday or Friday. My guess is Thursday as they're not THAT far from me, I have 10 CX, 10 black broilers, and 5 "assorted" Std cornish pullets coming.

I am so excited, its kind of ridiculous. We have been chickenless for too long and I really like having the meaties around.

Our new birds are coming in two weeks! Very excited, told my Dad that I ordered them and I can hear him working out how to build the tractor coop from miles away. He has a truck topper for me to use. If it doesn't come to pass I have extra space in the barn to raise these birds but I think some of the posts on grass fed birds have me sold (ok that is my theory with my laying flock as well).
