ready to start

Thanks everyone! And thanks for the dog tips! One of our dogs is just a puppy still and I worry least about him. Our female is super smart and easy to train, but she does love catching mice, so she'll have to be watched carefully around the chicks. Our older male is probably the one I'm least sure about.. I did not get him as a pup and he tends to be a bit dumb. So he probably won't have much access. Our coop will be slightly within their reach. We don't have a fenced yard, so the dogs have 30' tie outs for when they're outside. I am glad that we're getting chicks, so we'll have lots of time inside for training before we set up the coop and move them out.

I just talked to a guy yesterday and we're getting 6 black star chicks this weekend. They hatch on Saturday and (since we won't be home Saturday) they'll come home on Monday. We're all super excited!

Hello And Good Luck ! I Have three dogs including a Doxie I had to be careful even though they are not Large dogs they didnt know a chick from a mouse.. Now they follow me right in the Hen house , I accidentally let out 11 Young Jersey Giants the other day about 8 weeks old, they took off running and my dogs rounded them back up and shewed them back in a travel cage for me ! Not a single nip lol.. It was a sight to see ..
