Here's the story:
a few nights ago, I was running around with my rir in the yard, and she was eating some grass, and being chill. all of a sudden, she went limp, she couldn't stand up and her comb turned purple. she couldn't stand up at all. so me and my friend took her into my side shed to give her some water, and she kept opening and closing her mouth, like trying to make a sound or breath. then, she started to flip out, and get limp, and flip out again, it was like a spasm. me and my friends where horrified, so we took her to an emergency vet, but they didn't know much about chickens. in the car, she slowly blinked her eyes, but wasn't having spasms. she also kept opening and closing her mouth. when we git their, we gave her to the vet. afterword the vet told us that she gave her an x-ray and was OK and calm. the vet didn't know much about chickens though, so we took her home and our hen slept soundly in the coop.
she is okay know, I am just worried on what to do if it happens again. My prediction is she was choking on a piece of grass, but I need to hear more possible things that could have happend that night as well.
please give me any suggestions or advice on what to do!!
