REALLY bloody poop out of nowhere?!?!?!?!?!?!

I went to check on my girls this morning and there is a puddle of blood where they roost outside. It is really bloody so I go looking in the hen house and there is at least one bloody pile under each roost. THis is the first time I have noticed thi sso it couldn't hav ebeen happening for long. I have no idea why it's happening or what to do. I have 13 sex link hens and one roo, two white holland turkeys, three bantam mutt roos, and two silkies. I recently changed their feed becuase we ran out and I was worried about the turkeys not getting what they needed so they are all on game bird feed right now. Could that have caused it? We asked te guy at the feed store and he said it would be fine. I am freaking out and well...just really freaking out. Any help is appreciated. THank-you!

Also, they have always been on medicated feed. They were immunized. And I just completely cleaned their coop out like on eweek ago?!?!?!? I am totally confused. I did also use a fly repellent that starts with a p. It said it was safe to use inhen houses though and I waited until it was dry before I let them back in. :-(

How old are your chickens? Were they on medicated feed before ?
Cocci could be the problem. To find out for sure take a poop sample to a vet.
If they have cocci you'll need to get some Amprol or Sulmet.Your feed store may have it.Now if your chickens are at laying age & you give them Sulmet toss their eggs for a couple of weeks. Amprol is better to use because it is okay to eat eggs while they are being treated. Just make sure you treat them ASAP.
I don't know a thing about giving those meds to turkeys.Maybe someone else can advise you about that.

THank you for the info.
They were immunized for fowl-pox ?? and something else. I am sorry to sound so stupid but these are our 4-H chicks and 4-H provided the vacines. The first two went in the water and the last one went in the wings (that was hard on me).

Another stupid question...how do I find a vet that will look at chicken poo?

*edit* And would it hurt to give them that medicine even if I'm not sure about what they have? I mean in case I can't egt them to a vet??

You may want to see if you can find an avian vet in your area. If not call around, they don't have to see the chicken,just the poop,lol.That's your best bet,find out exactly what's going on.
Maybe 4H can tell you what they were immunzed for??
What kind of feed were they on before you changed? was it medicated??

They have always been on medivated feed. But I just rea about wet conditions help cause it and their coop has been really wet lately as we have had sooo much rain. We're going to clean out the coop from top to bottom again. Would spraying the yard with bleach water help kill the disease or woudl it just harm the chickens???

I don't believe spraying with bleach will help in the long run...
If you did have them on med. feed then most likely it is cocci , I think I'm no expert.

I don't know what to tell ya about medicating the turkeys you have,I don't know.

How old are these birds? Have you ever wormed them?

Taking a fecal sample to your regular vet can get you answers on what, if any, parasites your birds are infected with.

I went to the feed store who only had sulmet. I am going to try that and see if it works. Meanwhile I am going to find a vet in the area thta with deal with chickens. Then I will have their stool checked out to see what all's going on. Just pray for my babies I hope they will be fine.
Now we are going to go clean out the coop:-( I hate doing that, oh well!

Have you checked thier feet??? I recently went into the coop, to find blood under the roost as well. I was all readt to FREAK OUT ..... then I saw one of the hens had somehow torn her toenail off. UGH! The bleeding stopped after a little while....but there was Soooo much blood!! Looked like a massacre!
