REALLY bloody poop out of nowhere?!?!?!?!?!?!

it is good to be careful on meds but when you see this symptom in your entire flock it is truly best not to wait on the results and go ahead and medicate for cocci as it can kill fast (DO get the faecal immediately and if it turns out not to be the case well then stop the meds ... cocci can kill so fast dont take the risk and wait... cocci dammages their intestines something terrible and this will affect their ability to fight off disease as well as absorb nutrients properly)... hope all are well on their way to recovery...

Well thta' spretty dran scray. So if I went out today and got them meds they could still die??? I truly hope not.
We cleaned ou the coop, sprayed with bleach, and sprayed that P word pemethryn (sp). We put in clean shavings so I a will be able to see if there is more blood in the morning. I couldn't see any new blood throughout the day but they were mostly in the yard. Is it possable for the meds to already be taking affect?
I will keep y'all posted!

I got coci once, gave amprol for 3 days and no bloody poo after the first day of treatment. It does kill fast! They were all good one day, blood next, treat, and instantly better!

...the bleach and pyrethrin will have no effect on the oocysts...ensure any future chicks are on medicated starter.

Karri,

I don't know where in Arkansas you are from but there is a vet in Benton on Congo Rd that take care of farm animals. Also there is a lady that works at the Farmers Co-op that knows a lot about chickens. I don't know her name I just ask for the "chicken lady'

Good luck,

jackie
