Really dumb question

We just got our first Silkies....the lady I got them from couldn't tell me if they were rooster or pullet....she did however say if they are pullets they'll be laying by this spring....

Here's the dumb question.....is there a way to tell rooster from hen? They look to be about 4 months old...

The roo's will generally have bigger combs than the pullets. Also, quite often the feathers on the roo's head will be longer and curl towards the back, kind of like streamers, whereas the pullets generally have puffier heads. Post pictures if you can, I am sure someone can tell you what they are if they can see pictures.

Well generally the roosters crow, but not always. Silkies are very ambigouse(sp?)
