Really excited. Finally we got some to hatch. Day 20

So at 2ami checked on them and two more had hatched, leaving just 4 eggs.

By 7.30am the last 4 had hatched. The final 6 are in the incubator drying off now making lots of noise, I guess they're looking for mother hen.

Should i be scattering some food in there with them now since the first 2 hatched almost 24 hours ago now.

Is it normal for them to be pecking at each others feet when they wander around?

And when i take them out of the incubator shall i sterilise it with bleach before i put it into storage until next year?

Thanks for reading my thread and hope you all are enjoying my pictures.

Aww congratulations on such a great hatch! :)

Loving the pictures, what adorable little guys! :love

It should be fine to add some food sprinkled about for them, I'm sure they'll appreciate it. It is very normal for them to peck at each others toes, beaks, etc. That should die down quite a bit soon, especially once they get used to eating food and realize their siblings extremities aren't edible.

I usually sterilize my incubator with vinegar as it is a little less harsh and then do a good rinse afterwards. But my incubator rarely gets very messy as I do take them out as they hatch. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to use bleach to sterilize before putting the incubator into storage.
