Really Nasty Poo**WARNING!! GRAPHIC, DISGUSTING & PIC HEAVY**

I've had their poo tested about 2 or 2 1/2 wks. ago. No parasites were found in any of it. Although, DLHUNICORN said that false negatives sometimes happen. I had one die suddenly on Tues. I'm so confused at this point, I don't know what I'm doing anymore!

I let them out of their coop around 7am. I give them fresh, clean water and make sure they have food (Dumor Layer Crumble). Then I clean out the poo from their coop and rake up the poo from their run. I have recently been giving them cooked rice and plain organic yogurt. I've had them since Oct. '07 (got them from an old man) so I don't know exactly how old they are. I've only recently began letting them free range, but I stay with them the entire time. One did have roundworms about 2mo. ago, and I did worm the flock with Wazine. That chicken died on Tues. I have Avia Charge 2000 for their water, but I'm not sure how often to use it.

did you say the droppings had improved?
are they still runny at all? what color?

have they been eating well?
are you still seeing any blood spots like in Lulu's as in the pic.?

I also saw the blood spots on Lulu's droppings..and thought cocci.
intestinal cocci can cause those colors of and consistency of droppings.
but after reading about the wazine I wondered if some damage had been done, causing the blood spots.
or if another type of worm could be causing it, in which case the broader wormer would be needed as dlh suggested.

at any rate, some sort of enteritis was, or is happening.

which chicken died?(any of the ones with droppings pictured?)
were the droppings runny when you got them?
I mean, from the first day?
or shortly after?
if after..
is there any fertilizers or weed killers used in the areas where they free range?

I tend to think they need to be treated for cocci.
Corid, or Amprol..(amprolium)...
My personal preferance is the powdered Corid 20% amprollium..water soluble for bovine cocci.
if you can find it. (1 TEASPOON powder per gallon of water for 5-7 days)
state vet might have it...or be able to suggest a cocci med.
Sulmet can be used, but not my first choice, tho used by many.

did you say you had changed feed?

others might have suggestions for cocci med.
or other opinions of problem.

sorry for your troubles, and confusion.

None of the droppings posted were then one's that died, though I do have pics. of hers. I'll post them. The droppings looked sometimes normal and sometimes not when I got them. I'm not sure what brand of feed they were eating before I got them, but I the old man I got them from said they were eating crumble mixed with 2-grain scratch so that's what I was feeding them. The it was suggested by someone on this site that I needed to stop the scratch. So I did. Now they only eat layer crumbel or pellets. I get it from Tractor Supply mostly, but sometimes from Southern States. This morning I examined LuLu's poo and did not see anything in it that looked like blood. It was, however, somewhat loose.
Maybe I should take some more poo samples to my vet and have them tested and and suggest about the cocci?

I thought I still had the pic of Oreo's poo, but I don't. I do have a pic of her butt though. The pic was taken about 1mo. before she died. Right after taking the pic, I trimmed off all the stuck on poo.

Here's a pic of her just four days before I found her dead.
