Really need help, rooster or hen!

Awesome! I hope you guys are right. I had to rehome its father, his name was Pringles. My daughters chcicken we got it when it was 1 week old. She is hoping it's a hen too!

I say pullet, crest looks like a pullet's. Comb is not all gnarly and hideous like a typical male silkie. You mentioned her in the nest box. at 5 mos. she may be close to laying. I definitely think a rooster would have tried crowing by now. She does have a bit of wattles, but, all the other silkies I have seen were bearded so it would have covered wattles from sight.

Please do post on the silkie thread for opinions from breeders who should know much more than me. Would hate if you had to give her up erroneously.

I will check out the silkie thread. Good to know there may still be some hope! I will not give up yet. I have contacted the police department and they know I may have some more roosters and I have promised them if I do as soon as I figure out who's a roo I will rehome them and they've been so good to work with me on this , they know my chickens are pets. ( just don't want to press my luck!) I also bought a crow collar that I've used on the last 2 Roos who were crowing fools! Really helped to quiet them down until they were rehomed. I thought it was weird I haven't heard or seen this one crow, and I keep finding it in the nesting box! even stranger I have another polish/silkie hen that ocassionaly crows and lays eggs, best of both worlds I guess! Thanks for your help!

I agree. For now I would say pullet.

Hmmm... I'm leaning towards pullet because the crest is so round. I don't see anything that says cockerel, but I could be wrong.
I'm glad I guessed was wrong!
