- Having issues with an Olive Egger hen about 3 months old. I am a NEWBIE chicken keeper and really know nothing. I have 11 others of the same age...and all seem to be fine (eating and drinking and active). However....there is one that I am worried seems a little lethargic even though he is eating and drinking and running away from me whenever I go to grab him - so I could be imagining it.
- We spend A LOT of time with our chicks daily and for the last several weeks she has been having clear watery poop (sometimes with bits of regular poop in it). Originally it had been very hot here in Los Angeles and I had also been feeding watery type treats (cantelope, melon, & cucumbers), so I thought maybe it was just this combo. The other chicks have had a watery poo here and there, but not consistently. Then about a week ago I noticed that her crop begins feeling full and watery about mid day, so I worried about sour crop. But no stinky breathe and her crop does empty by morning. No other sysmptoms. She happily eats and drinks and runs around. I have not seen her have a solid stool lately. It is easier to notice the liquid ones as they make noise and we know to look for her.
- I feed my chicks Scratch and Peck Grower feed. They get ACV in their water and sometimes cloves of garlic as well. Probiotic powder and chick grit added to their food. As well as a herbal anti parasite blend. Random treats from the kitchen (cilantro, mint, carrot top greens, peaches, mealworms, radish greens, nettle).
- I tried "quarantining" her today. I fed her a more concentrated ACV water and then crushed garlic...and a bit of coconut oil. But I felt bad because her crop was totally empty, so I let her back out around noon. I had been worried about sour crop.
- I am new to chickens, so don't have a vet for them but have no problem finding one. I tend to be overly anxious and quite worried in general, so I didn't want to over react like normal, but now I just feel like this is going on forever.
- No pictures because we have river bed sand in the coop and run, so it absorbs quickly.
- I have not offered any kind of wormer either?

Please someone help!! I would deeply appreciate any advice/direction.

I’m sorry no one answered yet. How is your chick today?

Hey! Thank you! She’s still fine, but still is having clear watery poop. I have corid, but am not sure if it makes sense to treat for coccidosis? This Has been going on for almost 4 weeks and besides having watery poo and then a watery crop sometimes (but never in the morning) - she seems fine? Really at a loss here. I’m a first time chicken owner and really don’t want to make a dumb mistake with these ladies!

I realize it has been a few months since you posted this amazingly familiar question. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to describe your whole experience because I couldn’t find the proper way to even describe it without the advice being sour crop. I am so extra curious about the outcome for your little lady. I have 9 pullets about 7.5 weeks old (4 Easter eggers, 4 Wyandotte, and one speckled Sussex). The Sussex has been going through it exactly as you described it and I have been right there with her. I am a new chicken mom myself and I have three groups of chickens doing their thing and so far so good, except this one issue has come up and I am so afraid she is either suffering or it is some easy thing I could do to help her out. If you have any feedback it would be surely appreciated by this poor frazzled matriarch! Thank you in advance.
