Yesterday morning my Austhorp Hen bleed from her vent there was blood everywhere. Today she is still very weak, understandaby. I am doing everything now to try and save her. The bleeding stopped yesterday, thankfully. At the moment I have in a dog carrier with a towel. With food and water close by, inside the house. I have all her favourite foods there for her scrambled eggs, tomatoe and seed, plus plenty of fresh water. "Is there anything else I can do?" I cannot afford the vet bill. She does not sem to be in pain just weak.

Is she showing any other signs besides vent bleeding and fatigue? Could you get a picture of the vent?

She stopped bleeding from her vent yesterday and it was one bleed, it was lot blood. She has not bleed since. She just very weak. "Is there a reason for the photo of her vent?" "Could I just examine her?" "And what should I be looking for?" Thankyou so much for your help, very greatly apprecaited.

Has she been laying normally before all of this? I personally would wait unless you know exactly what your looking for. Fumbling around in such a fragile area could worsen the problem. I only raise waterfowl so honestly I don't know much about chickens issues. Hopefully one of the experts can further assist you in this matter.

A picture is going to be very helpful. But in case you can't do the pic thing, then look at her vent and see if it is prolapsed (the insides being pushed outside) if it is then you have a problem.

Thankyou so much help. Yes, she is one of the best layers out of all my hens at least six eggs a week. This is the first time she has been unwell. I wonder if all that laying has effected her. She is two years old. Good advice definitely do not want to mess around back there I would hate to cause trouble.

Thankyou so much J Sanders for your help and awesome information. Well I checked from behind and she does not have prolapse. I googled images of prolapsed chickens to get a better idea. So now I am really stumped where the bleeding came from. 'Do you have any information about hens bleeding from their vent?" The causes and cures. Greatly apprecaite your time and help.

Well, lets look at other possibilities. May have been a larger than normal egg. Watch her and keep a check on the vent to see if it happens again. Even a teaspoon of blood coming from the vent can be alarming even though it isn't much.

I lost my Hen last night. I did everything i could. It was egg impaction that finally killed her.
