Really Stupid Question

I am so glad I asked. I had no idea that ducks laid eggs more than once a year. I do agree with how cute they are. I often ask myself why I have dogs (or my son's dogs). But, they keep me warm when they want to snuggle. They keep me busy - feed, water, playtime etc. They know when I'm in need of a hug. I don't know what I would do without them...lol

Thanks for all the responses.

I have ducks for their personality... thats all..
I dont even eat the eggs..

They're little comedians, and they can always make me smile.

I first got my ducks because they were so cute when they were babies...as they got older I wondered what I was thinking until I started giving them water in a pool to swim in - it's hilarious to watch them play in the water and the more I laugh the more they carry-on. My white Pekin ducks lay eggs every day. My little white duck, a call duck maybe, lays every now and then. My Rouen ducks are just starting to lay now and then. The eggs are big and very good. I love my ducks. They are pets. The eggs and antics are benefits.

Ive had ducks pretty much since We moved here over 6 years ago.The previous owners had some pekin's running around and We Loved them.We got duckling's the next spring and it was downhill from there.I have raised HUNDREDS literaly.Ive had several different breed's over the years.Yep the babie's are a stinky mess and you just about have to have an Iron stomach at time's but...Once they grow up they are a joy really.Sure they will eat your flowers and plants if they get in the yard. But We liked watching so many of our's just standing on their head's in our small pond and nipping at the air catching bug's and doing their crazy Yoga move's stretching out.I have 4 young Pekin hen's(bought as babie's at TSC this spring) now and they are all laying an egg a day now.I have 5 mallard drakes and one Cayuga mix and the drakes like to fly at least twice a day to creek and then just around some. They are just show off's but they all go right back to horse stall at night where I trianed them to sleep.

I want to have ducks because they're funny and cute and have fun personalities. Even the wild ones are adorable when they follow you around, hoping for a hand-out. It's also fun seeing babies grow up, too.

I'm going to use mine for eggs(when they start laying), entertainment, and if I let them go
broody then income for selling babies, and maybe selling some eggs!!

I'm so sorry for asking such a stupid question. I really did not know that ducks lay on a daily basis. I think that's great. And, I do know how cute they are. Now, if I could get an answer about turkeys! lol

I've only been in the chicken thing for a couple of months.....I'm learning.
