Tonight I saw the buff Orpington hen, Hazel, and her sister, Flash, the runty silver Phoenix perched on the porch railing waiting for the coop to be opened, so I decided to pull Flash off, take her inside and weigh her, as I hadn't weighed her in a while. So she was kind of freaked out, as she and Hazel are not particularly friendly towards humans. They are never aggressive, but will try to avoid humans, and succeed quite well. I haven't tried to force them to be otherwise, and so they stay. Afterwards I put her on the porch rail with Hazel, and Hazel carefully checked her over, put a wing over her, and started to preen her.
It was so sweet.
