Really upset... someone reported me.

How does somebody know that you have chicks in your garage? They would have to be spying on you- which probably means they were on your property, trespassing!

We are allowed to have 6, but one was a roo so we got a bunch of babies to grow out and pick from... I posted on FB about having 21 and that is what the notice said "someone reported 21 chickens at this property and concern over sanitation and living conditions". Over the past few days we rehomed 6 and ultimately will have 10 (more than we are allowed but honestly, we back up to ponds with tons of geese and ducks that are on our roof and in our pool daily)... 4 extra than we are allowed is not allowed but we can't control the wild life... either way, we are off the street, away from other properties, we can apply for a permit for more than 6 in our conditions so I'll talk to the animal control about that - it's someone who has it out for me that knew my name, address and the exact number we posted. I don't even have that number any longer. Outdoors we have our 5 girls and 4 teens we hadn't rehomed yet. Babies are in the brooder in a locked garage.

My hubby and I are good people and have eliminated people that are drama from our lives... the last one was a couple years ago. We met her and her family through camping/dirt bike riding but they ended up going through a nasty divorce and she had a lot of issues with alcohol/prescriptions and made herself feel better by talking about others.... we stopped talking to them but had some of her friends on her FB even though we never talk to them either. I am pretty good about going through and removing anyone I don't talk to, but had not removed them until last week (same time I posted the 21 number) - now all of a sudden we have a notice. Clearly I upset her group by deleting the remaining number. We don't have any other valid explanation.

We're very simple people and hate drama, so this sucks. I am hoping the animal control officer will tell me who reported it and explain our situation. They were clearly on our property... our home is a newer home, 4/2, landscaped, I garden and the chickens are in the back 1/3 of our property in an enclosed gated area. My hubby and I do post regularly sweet lovey things on our fb and I post things about my girls and photos, eggs, etc... so some mean miserable person wants to waste their time trying to make others miserable.

Hopefully the AC officer calls me back tomorrow, and I pray for a positive outcome. Our girls give us much happiness, we keep a tidy home/yard/chicken habitat...

Anyway, I appreciate you reading all the stupid stuff and letting me vent.

A www facebook. Nothing good seems to come from facebook. Don't ever post anything there you wouldn't want world to know.
Someone on there or someone who saw it decided to be a meanie. I hope you find out who and can return a favor.

Unfortunately there is no way for anyone to "see" the number of chickens we have because most were in a locked indoor location away from view... for them to have a # whether accurate or not, had to be a "friend". Sad that FB has been so interwoven into so many aspects of our lives and associations to think now I have to hide "me" from my friends and be someone I am not, but... social media and internet checking is the way of the world and the way people get information. I was naive.

I do not have chicken math. Technically I have 2 cats dressed up as chickens because it is cute. The coop looking things out back are playhouses for my kids and cat scratching posts. Really.

Check on your laws. Some specify "adult" or "over seven months old" or something about your chicken count. Make sure what your law or ordinance says before you go belly up and bail on chicks. Knowledge is power. Animal Control does not always even know the laws they are supposed to be enforcing. Find your local code, read it, understand it and take a copy with you when you go to speak with them.
