It's a really interesting discussion... and a tricky one!
We (moderators) are always trying to balance telling:
• POSTERS: "Be more patient, kind, understanding, and helpful in your messages!"
• READERS: "Be more patient, thick-skinned, and less-reactive!"
We want our members to not feel like we're clamping-down on their ability to share their thoughts and perspectives... even if done in a way that some might interpret as "rude" or "mean".
... but we also want to foster / encourage an environment where peeps feel relatively comfortable.
Also, there might be a member that's having a bad-day and their tone is a bit prickly... but there might be a member that's "always rude/condescending". What do we do in these situations?
In some cases we might not take immediate action, but the reports help us keep an eye on peeps to see if it's a "one-off" or recurring issue.
Super tricky!
FORTUNATLEY, we have the best moderators in the world, so please report stuff that you feel is problematic. They will review, discuss (and sometimes debate) and then take action if/where needed.
