Reasonable time for Ebayers

I sold a couple items on Ebay and two of the Ebay buyers have not submit paypal payments on the items. I was expecting quick payment and needed to get the items shipped out. It has been three days but willing to go as long as a week in case some of them needed to get their paychecks in or computer problems. It would be nice to get a response back but neither one of them responded.

How much time do you give the buyers without giving them a negative feedback and relist the items back on Ebay???????????

One had no feedback on her list and the other one is in the twenties.

I dont know-did you put in for a time limit? Give them a day or so. If they are eggies sell them here.

You should state in your item your policy for payment expectations and the of relisting the item after XX days.

7 - 10 days is average.

Also be aware, even on ebay, there are US laws that entitle people to return internet purchase items unless marked as "sold as is" and "no return" or "all sales final" on your auction.

7-10 days for receipt of payment. HOWEVER, with PayPal you will get a notice immediately upon payment from the buyer. And I don't get it either why people don't pay right away!!!

Ebay rules state they should contact you within 3 days of sale but have 10 days in which to make payment.

If you haven't done so already you may want to send them an invoice, especially since they are newbies they may be waiting for you to contact them.

When I sell on ebay, I have a standrad disclaimer that says (and is ebays policy, I believe - oir it used to be) that the winner MUST contact me within three days, and payment within 7 days.

Now the seller can do an instant pay if you "buy it now" (also an ebay feature) that basically means if they hit "buy it now" and do not pay,. the auction is still ongoing unless they pay - they have to pay to actually "win" the item.
You might try using that one in the future - I've bought from people who've had that, and I don't mind, because I always buy and pay immediately (usually before I get the ebay notice, LOL - I want it NOW, too.)

As for the newbies - I am always leery of newbies on ebay. Sometimes it's ok, othertimes (usually) they are just clueless, not necesarily irresponsible. Have you tried to email them with a reminder (can do that through ebay, also).

Then you get the totally inept who bid without thinking "hey, I have to pay for this". Or the ones who think they can "change their mind" and just not pay - I've had a few of those, not many, but a few.

At one point I was tempted to not sell to anyone in Florida, LOL I had three in a row all from Florida. No email, no payment, no contact, no replies to multiple requests for just some form of communication.

What the newbies need to know is that Communication is EVERYTHING on ebay - you don't know them, cannot see them, etc... they have to email and contact the person selling and communicate - sadly, a lot of sellers need to learn that one, too.

Good luck with getting paid. I would definately re-vamp my auction wording, though - make it VERY specific, even if it sounds paranoid and mean - some people have to be slapped in the face with that type of wording to understand that Yes, You REALLY mean it.

If they don't submit payment pretty soon and you are worried about it, try contacting them. I sold my husband's motorcycle on eBay last year and was wondering why the payment didn't come through. The buyer was having trouble with his paypal account, he ended up sending a money order.

If in doubt, just contact the buyer and see what the problem is.
