Reasons to live in the South

Watching a program on Seattle last night I was thinking the same thing

Beautiful state you have there. Too bad about the lack of sunshine though. Gritty must have her sunshine, the more the better.

People helping people. Our state has one of the lowest incomes per family and one of the highest rates of charitable giving.

Magnolias, Jasmine, honeysuckle, Cherokee roses, pecan trees and real southern iced tea.

Catfish, mudbugs and watermelons and large gardens.

Slower pace of life and sultry summer nights with the sky full of stars.

Lots of tiny "Mayberry" type towns where you know your neighbors.

Police who inforce the law... but also threaten to tell your Momma on you.

Quiet Sunday mornings with church bells ringing softly in the distance.

I could write a book. I was born in the South but have traveled the world and lived up north. If home is where the heart is; I'll always be "home" here in the south...

I am a northern transplant from PA or as I am called in the South a "yankee".

I love to go home to visit but I must say the South has converted me, wouldn't live anywhere else.

You don't have to hear someone order "pop" when they are thirsty. I don't know why that word bothers me

What do you say? Soda?

When I lived in Baton Rouge, I noticed people you pass on the street smile and say "hi" and greet you more. I really, really liked that. Folks are real welcoming, and they call everybody from California "Cali". Heheheheh. Yeah, and the food. Mmmm, Jambalaya Shoppe in Baton Rouge is the schiznit. So is LeFleur's Buffet in Denham Springs, if it's still there.

And of course, as everybody knows, the real great thing about living in the south.... two words.... Waffle House.

Nope. It's a coke, whether it be an actual coke, a pepsi, a mountain dew or dr. pepper. It's all a COKE.

I can grow all my own veggies to feed my family for a year because we have such a LOOOOOOOOOOONG growing season here!

Other good points of the South, no rush, sweet iced tea, and sunshine no vitamin D deficiencies down here
