Hey guys! I've just recently joined the site and thought this would be the place to introduce myself and get to know y'all. We are in eastern Oklahoma and have owned a small flock of chickens for the past 3 years, and quail for the past few months. We just finished our first attempt at incubating chicken eggs, and currently have 84 quail eggs in now, that should be hatching Friday! Very excited to be here!! I've been reading the forum for information for a few years now

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! How did it go with your chicken hatch? Wow that's quite a number of quail you have there :) I too love incubating and hatching and find it very rewarding when the chicks hatch.

Good luck with your quail hatch and enjoy your time here on BYC :frow

Welcome!

I love your avatar! Good luck with the hatch.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

Thanks guys! I'm not sure how to reply to everybody. The first hatch was I call a success. We had 5 of the 9 that made it to lockdown hatch. I learned a lot along the way!

After candling the quail, it looks like only 34 are viable. I definitely feel like it was an egg storage issue before they went in. So have already learned a lot from the current hatch as well! Will be holding off on setting any more after these until the Easter Hatch a long :)

Any idea what kind of chickens I hatched? Lol. The eggs were given to me, and were big brown ones.
