Recomendations on how to keep chicks from kicking feed all over the brooder?

I also love that the narrator is 100% from the northeast clocked his accent immediately šŸ˜‚ thats kinda what my adult feeder looks like! Pasted what I bought below. Not a bad idea to try and emulate it with the chick feeder too! Thanks for sharing his page! View attachment 4237156
I have that exact feeder! I saw that the chickens had plenty of food one day, then checked 2 days later to find the feeder completely empty except for half of the thing filled with green moist moldy food. It's really weird because I have another very similar concept feeder that I made with a big bucket and separately bought (identical to these ones) ports from Amazon. The inside never even got a teeny tiny bit wet. I guess it depends on the environment but I didn't have a good experience with this feeder personally.

That's really good to know! Maybe its cause of the cheap plastic or something. Ill keep a close eye on it and if that happens with mine Ill cut the similar portholes into a tractor supply 5 gal bucket or something instead like you did as well! Thank you for the heads up! They wont be eating out of that one till they go outside next month so I'll let you know how it goes!

Good luck. I think maybe the reason that this feeder molded is because it's in a much much shadier spot, where wet sand takes a week to dry. The bucket feeder was in a sunny ish spot. But that still doesn't explain how a bunch of water got into the feeder.

Oh maybe! Ill have to keep that in mind!

Did you end up solving your chick feeder problems?
More or less yeah, it was suggested in here to just barely fill the feeder so they have a limited amount to kick out since the level is a little lower and they'll eat what they kick around while they wait for me to refill it in the afternoon. Works well enough until the 1 week olds are tall enough that I can put the legs down that raise the feeder.
