recommendation for dog owners with leash problems!

The reason why the dog STILL pulls on the leash during excitement, he is not listening to you nor does he has your attention full tilt. Pull him away from an object or thing by going the opposite direction until you have HIS attention 100% not 99%, the whole thing! It will take time and repeatings to do it effectively.

TRAINING!!!

Thats the problem I was having! I tried everything, halter and even a chock collar. she got to gagging every time. This does NOT choke it pulls on the back of the neck instead of the front. I agree that training is a MUST, but when you are trying to train a 10 mo. old GSD mix with no previous leash training it's a miracle worker! In order train your dog you must first have control. She is now heeling like a champ. I brought her into the chicken run today for the first time with confidence that I was in total control. She did very well, fist step in training her with the chickies went well. Hopefully she will reach an understanding they are part of the family!

The trick with the gentle leader is you must have the proper fit. If it's not on right the dog with fight you with it plus it takes getting used to for you and the dog... the training video really helped!

I guess some dogs are just different. Our dog is very big and is the same weight as our 10 year old now. She KNOWS she can get loose from him but not with the gentle leader.
